People are concerned that it is not a good time to travel to Vietnam during the Tet festival. We think differently : Tet is the best time to travel to Vietnam; the key is how good you make it. Tet shows the best of Vietnamese charming culture



Day 1: Hanoi arrival
Upon arrival, get our warm welcome ceremony at Noi Bai airport. Meet your tour guide and get transfer to your hotel in Hanoi.  Dinner and overnight in Hanoi. ( Dinner included )

Day 2: Vietnamese 'Farewell Kitchen's God' ceremony ( Tao Quan )
Morning departure with your tour guide to one of the oldest villages in Hanoi. Visit the family and see people preparing for the 'farewell' ceremony for their kitchen's God. Every part of Vietnam has its own way to celebrate this special event but Hanoi has the most original way to make it. This is also the time for Vietnamese to pray to their ancestors. People will prepare foods, fruits, incense...and a specialty of today is a carp that will be delivered to the river for the delectation of their God. There is good conversation while having your lunch with the family. There will be lots of fun and cultural exchange stories for today. Back to your hotel. Dinner after enjoying the water puppet show. Overnight in Hanoi. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 3: Hanoi city tour - Overnight train to Sapa.
Follow your tour guide for your tour of Hanoi today. Highlight of today is Hanoi main markets where you will see how Hanoian people prepare for their Tet famous at Dong Xuan market, Hang Gia market. We also drop by  some museums and West Lake to visit Tran Qquoc pagoda - the oldest pagoda in Vietnam. Relax, walking around this area before returning to your hotel. After dinner, we board an overnight train to Sapa. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 4: Tet is Sapa
Arrive Lao Cai in the morning. Transfer to Sapa which is 35 km from the train station. Check into your hotel in Sapa then head out to Sapa market. Free for leisure. After lunch, we walk down to Cat cat village - hometown of the Black H'mong people. Even those hilltribes not celebrating Tet as Vietnamese do, make their own festival to join with the Vietnamese community up here. Visit H'mong house and family where your guide will explain to you in detail about this minority group. Back to Sapa. Dinner and overnight in Sapa. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 5: Sapa - Ta Phin Village - Overnight train to Hanoi.
Ta Phin is a very famous village in Sapa, located only 10 km from town It is the hometown of the colorful Red Dzao people - the people of interesting legend. We also visit a family here as a live museum where you get know more about their lives, people and culture. Back to Sapa for lunch. Free time until your transfer to Lao Cai railway station. On the way back to train station, we detour to Tram Ton which is reconized as the most beautiful pass in Vietnam. Dinner in Lao Cai before train back to Hanoi. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 6: Hanoi - Make Square Cake in Hanoi.
Tet in Vietnam will be incomplete without a Square Cake. This is related to the Vietnamese first King of Hung Vuong. Vietnamese nowadays still make this cake like thousands of years ago to celebrate their Tet. Today, after arrival in Hanoi, we have an early check in and rest until time to follow your tour guide to the outskirts of Hanoi to see people making this cake for their family. You also will be invited to make one for yourself that will be later delivered to your hotel. Back to your hotel. Dinner and overnight in Hanoi. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 7: Hanoi - Halong - Overnight on Junk boat
Morning departure for Halong. Drive through the Red river delta. Stop to visit some handicraft villlages with attractions such as embroidery or ceramics before arrival in Halong city. Greeted by welcome drink on boat. Have a seafood lunch while sailling to Halong Bay. Visit Sung Sot cave, Titop beach before relaxing on your sun deck to view a Halong sunset. Dinner and overnight on the Junk. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 8: Halong - Hanoi lunar New Year Eve.
More cruising in the morning to different parts of Halong - Bai Tu Long - famous for small rocks and islets along Hon Gai that also belongs to Halong city. Have your lunch before docking back at Halong city pier. Transfer to Hanoi. Tonight is the lunar New Year's Eve of Vietnam. Activities will be held around the main lakes of Hanoi. Fireworks and music shows will be mainly delivered around the central lake of Hoan Kiem. After dinner, follow your tour guide to walk around the old quarter. End the walk by Haon Kiem lake to watch fireworks at midnight. Happy New Year - Chuc Mung Nam Moi! Overnight in Hanoi. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 9: Hanoi - Danang - Hoian
Free in the morning. After lunch we take a short flight to Da Nang. Arrive Da Nang then transfer to Hoian town. Rest of the day is free for leisure. Dinner in Banana Leaf restaurant beside Thu Bon river. Overnight in Hoian. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 10: Hoian - Heritage walking tour.
After breakfast at your hotel we cycle to the Hoian old quarter, park our bikes and follow our tour guide on a Heritage walking tour to see Hoian ancient town. Tour includes: Phuc Kien temple, Japanese covered bridge and a visit to the old house of Tan Ky. After lunch we visit the Hoian coutryside of Cam Nam, Tra Que by our bicycle. Back to your hotel. Dinner and overnight in Hoian. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 11: Hoian - Saigon
Relax on the beach. After lunch, we transfer to Da Nang airport for our flight to Saigon. Check in your hotel. Dinner and overnight in Saigon. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 12: Saigon - Mekong delta - Homestay
Depart for Mekong Delta. Our destination today is Vinh Long town. Upon arrival in Cai Be, we take our private cruise to visit some villages of handicraft that are located along the Mekong Upper river. Have your lunch with 'Elephant Ear Fish' at Mr. Sau Giao garden. After lunch we take a rowing boat to our homestay where we will spend our night. After dinner, sit back to enjoy a traditional music show that is performed by the band from the village. Overnight in Homestay of Vinh Long. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 13: Vinh Long - Saigon
Farewell the local family then cruise to the other side of the Mekong river - Vinh Long. Visit Vinh Long markets and a few more different handicraft villages. Our waiting van will take us back to Saigon after docking at Vinh Long pier. Stop over in Trung Luong for lunch. Arrive in Saigon. Rest of the day is free for shopping or wandering around town. Tonight we have a farewell dinner with our tour guide. Overnight in Saigon. ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included )

Day 14: Saigon departure.
Free time until transfer to Tan Son Nhat for your flight home. ( Breakfast included )
